 Prelude: Darklord Caused this
Mess!!
Let's begin...
The origin of Dragon has yet to be told--he was discovered, in his
original universe, as a fully grown man in a burning field in Chicago. He
had a complete memory of everything except for who he was and where he was
from. In the years that followed Dragon went through various career changes
which included becoming a member of the Chicago police force, a bounty
hunter, a government super-team member, and a semi-retired super-hero.
One of the most important things to know is that Dragon now resides in an
alternate universe than the one he first appeared in (from issues "1-75").
The reason Dragon resides in this new reality is because of a battle with
Dragon's most dangerous foe, a time traveling alien/human hybrid villain by
the name of Damien Darklord.
Darklord used his ability to time travel to change the course of events
to fit his needs-- creating a personal utopia that he could rule as an
absolute dictator. By changing established events, Darklord caused
rifts in time that led to the creation of various alternate realities.
Darklord was able to travel to these alternate realities and enlist the help
of alternate versions of himself and others to create his perfect utopia.
One alternate version of Darklord was almost able to create his perfect
utopia, but instead developed a hero-less earth, dubbed "Darkworld" that was
open to attack by an intergalactic police force, called the Cosmic Cops. The
Cosmic Cops teleported the whole planet to an unknown point in the galaxy.
The strain of the teleportation was to much the alternate earth and the
planet began to crumble, heading towards a certain mass destruction. In an
effort to save the world he ruled, Damien Darklord began swapping parts of
Darkworld with the Earth from Dragon's reality. Dragon and his government
super team were eventually able to defeat Darklord and his Earth swapping
plans, but not before some of the residents of Darkworld were able to escape
to Dragons world-- including an alternate Darkworld version of Dragon! (we
will hear more from him later!)
As Darklord from the alternate "Darkworld" reality was defeated, a new
Damien Darklord from Dragon's own reality was just being born. As a toddler,
Damien Darklord's intellect was already far beyond that of a normal
human's. Eventually it was revealed that an elder Darklord from a different
dimension has been setting up an evil organization, to help empower the
child Darklord and proceed with the plans to create a utopia on this world
to rule over. Part of the plans involved kidnapping the children of
superheroes, assuming that they would brainwash them for future use.
One of the children kidnapped was Dragon's own son, Malcolm Eugene
Dragon, a child that Dragon had during a rocky relationship with
super-heroine, Rapture. Darklord was able to trick the couple into thinking
the child died at birth--meanwhile, Darklord was raising him with the rest
of the super children that he captured.
Through a series of events Dragon would come to realize the presence of
the new Darklord on his planet. Eventually a battle was waged between many
heroes and the agents of Darklord's organization. During the battle, Dragon
discovered that his son was alive. The meeting was short lived as Dragon,
convinced that Darklord had to be stopped once and for all, hastily
attempted to kill the infant Darklord by crushing his skull. The results
would be disastrous!!!
